Kari is a textile designer and artist whose journey has been woven with threads of adventure, creativity, and a touch of familial inspiration. Growing up as the daughter of a military officer and artist mother, she was immersed in a world where discipline met imagination, and duty danced with creativity. From an early age, she found solace and inspiration in the vibrant tapestry of cultures during her family’s travels and trips to local markets and countless museums. These experiences ignited a passion for design that would shape her path for many years to come.

In her artist statement, she says “My work blends organic textures, earthy tones, and intricate motifs gathered from places I’ve explored and eras I admire. Each design tells a story—of a landscape, a culture, or a moment in time—woven into fabric with care and creativity. I aim to create pieces that feel both nostalgic and fresh, inviting a sense of connection and warmth. Through my designs, I hope to bring a sense of wonder, comfort, and authenticity to everyday living.”

When she first embarked on her career, she delved into product development and sourcing, a role that took her across the globe. From bustling cities and markets in Asia to family run textile mills in ancient European towns, every destination added a new hue to her palette of experiences.

With a passion for bespoke textiles and furnishings, Kari is excited to assist others curate their dream spaces. Her and her team help with anything from the initial design consultation to room refreshers to a full custom design and/or build. She believes that it's a journey of self-expression, where every thread tells a story, and every stitch is a step closer to creating a space that feels truly like home. Her design philosophy is to curate and collect rather than decorate. She focuses on using timeless treasures to create a space that is unique and represents your life journey.

Amidst all of her travels and adventures, she never lost sight of what truly mattered: home, family, and tradition. Rooted in the values instilled by her upbringing, she cherishes the simple joys of togetherness, finding inspiration in the laughter of her three children and two grandchildren, the boundless energy of her two dogs, and the gentle strength of her horse.

Some of Kari’s work is currently on display in the 55th Annual Kansas City Symphony Designer’s Showhouse.
